Fine Art Photography by Achim Koerfer The work of Achim Koerfer, born 1969 in Erkelenz, near Aix- la- Chapelle, Germany, fascinates with its multiple exposures which the fine art photographer composes in situ and captures on film using a single- lens reflex camera. This novel technique creates images that are unique. They have not only the exciting look of expertly digitally composited pictures but also evince a subtle shift of perspective, bringing various levels of perception into play, inviting the beholder to break with traditional, long- established ways of seeing, and affording him a look behind the scenes of the familiar and day- to- day into a novel dimension where there is always something new to discover. Inspiration and motive force behind the development of Koerfer's sytle and photo sequences are topical issues of some controversy and of immediate urgency to the fine art photographer and to the public-at-large. He rises to the challenge of airing these social issues, employing the uniquely expressive imagery and vibrant colours of his art to polarise and invite liberating debate.
